In Africa, women entrepreneurs are emerging by the day. Like their male counterparts, however, such factors like lack of or inadequate start-up capital and funding, harsh business environment, and most especially the cultural belief that women should be subjective to the men – all combine to fight the female entrepreneurial spirit.

The Million-Dollar Woman Business Pitch Contest seeks to make a strong case for African women in business. We are looking for women who aren’t held down by the erroneous age-long belief that women are only good as housewives and cooks. We seek women who are enterprising, indomitable, and visionary and who innovatively create solutions for the modern society.

Stages Of The Contest

1. First online task to shortlist top 100 participants
2. Second online task to determine top 25 participants
3. Online voting to shortlist 15 finalists
4. Pitch House stage for 15 finalists. The 15 finalists will make it to the Pitch House. Pitch house is a housing location in Lagos Nigeria, where the 15 finalists will be accommodated for one week. Judges and trainers will also be on ground to facilitate and groom the final participants on how to become better women entrepreneurs, with the capacity to make visible impacts in the economies of their various countries. The Pitch House is scheduled to hold between the last week of January and first week of February, 2019. Participants must, therefore, be willing and able to travel by that period. The winner of the star prize and other runners up will be announced at a ceremony at the end of the one-week Pitch House.

Prizes

• Grand Prize: $5,000 (five thousand dollars)
• Other Prizes: win investors, free trainings, media promotions, gifts, etc (Runners up and other participants stand a chance to benefit from these other prizes)

To participate in The Million-Dollar Woman, you must satisfy ALL the conditions below:

1. Must be an African or reside in Africa.
2. Must be a female
3. Must be between the ages of 18 and 40
4. Must have an existing business

We accept no liability for cancelling the Project or for anyone’s failure to receive actual notification of its cancellation.
