Small scale business owners in Anambra suffer loss: N30million worth of fake Kiwi polish burnt.

Two truckloads of fake Kiwi polish amounting to N30 Million that were evacuated from a warehouse on the bank of the River Niger in Onitsha since last year has finally been destroyed by order of the court. Though the alleged importers of the product, Hyginus Chukwuma and Uju Anike, went to court to challenge the confiscation of the products,  Justice Ndigwe still gave the order for the products to be destroyed.

The destruction and impound of the product in Onitsha was made possible through the help of the Nigeria Police, Asco Investment Limited, a distributor of Kiwi polish in Nigeria, and officials of SC Johnson, manufacturers of the Kiwi brand of polish in West Africa.

Most of the blame was on the regulatory bodies and agencies who fail to stop the importation of fake products into the country. Accusing these agencies, Mr. Oghale Elueni, the Managing Director, SC Johnson in West Africa sub region, lamented that they are frustrating the efforts of manufacturers by not being proactive when complaints about fake product importers were brought to them.
